During a late night drive, I approached a stop sign before crossing a two way main street. Before proceeding to cross the two-way main street, I looked to my left and to my right and there was no sign of a car coming or going. As I proceeded to cross the two-way street, I looked to my left and right again, but this time, a car was moving at high speed to the point I needed to slam on breaks in the middle of the two-way street. But as the car was quickly approaching, the driver began to slow down as he passed in front of me with an eery stare as if he wanted to provoke a situation. The driver finally passed and I proceeded on, but as I looked in the rear view mirror, the driver was at a stand still as if he was watching me drive off. It was an unsettling feeling not knowing if there was any ill intention. As I went along my way, the thought of that unsettling moment kept coming back to me. It wasn’t necessarily a fear per se, but just unsettling for some reason.
As I entered into prayer that night, I kept seeing the driver’s face. Before I knew it, I began praying for him, his family, whatever circumstances he could have been facing, etc. After my prayer was complete, I noticed that the unsettling feeling and the eery stare I recalled from earlier that night came to a cease. I then realized that the unsettling experience wasn’t really about the situation at end, by merely needed to take place in order for the driver to cross the path of prayer; it was my assignment to pray for the driver.
God never gives us more than we can bare. Sometimes we’re faced with unsettling circumstances because He knows we can handle it and that we will be obedient to His instruction. So, remember, the next unsettling experience you may encounter, could just very well be your assignment.
